Mr. Beard's Review
Dofus
PC Game

The way I am doing these reviews is either people Suggest a game, or I find a random game to play. I play the game for an hour and give my initial opinion. Sometimes however I do play a game a little longer. It all just depends on my mood when I'm ready to write the next post. Every time I play a game and give it my personal rating. I rate the game on 5 different personal points.

I'll get to each one separately and explain why I feel it gets a full star or not. Now I can get into great detail with everything about this game, but this is just a quick review of the game. If you would like to know more just let me know in the comments below. Plus I will also be posting links to some other great resources.

Well, I should have looked into this series a bit more before I started the reviews for Wakfu, but it is what it is. This is part of a huge series of games, anime, and even a ton of collectibles and merch. This has been around a long while and seems to be hanging in there fairly well yet. My personal experience so far has me a bit worried though. This is a free to play game, but it seems like in order to progress through the actual game and get into other areas you need to be a paid member? I hope I am wrong about this honestly because if that is how this game goes then it will be a huge bummer and I will not be doing a full review or tips and tricks for it. I just do not have the funds to pay for a subscription or membership just to make some reviews or blog posts as of yet. Well with all of that said let's get into my initial first-hour review!

Game Play
The simple mechanics does make this very easy to play. It is a simple point and click mouse-based navigation. Although I do need to get better used to switching screens because that is a sidebar at the edge of each screen to click on. There are a few areas I found myself stuck in and had to navigate two or three extra screens just to get going in the right direction again. They do have a harvest system where you collect and harvest items to craft equipment and new items. I need to get more familiar with this because I can never find the harvest points. So far though all I have really had the chance to do was navigate the maps and harvest tons of stuff. They also have a turn-based battle system which is fairly fun. It is a bit of strategy or in my case brute force. They also have a wide variety of characters to choose from, you can also slightly customize. Me I typically pick crafting types, thieves or hunters. This is my first time picking something outside of my normal. I picked the Summoner class. Tofu is a little wrecking ball! There are a lot of quests as well. I know I for one picked up a bunch of them as I went around exploring. That is really all I figured out to this game so far. So far to this point, I am enjoying the gameplay and mechanics of it and gave it a full star!

Graphics
I do enjoy these graphics a lot. Are you surprised? It is a very clean anime style with a very unique feel. The backgrounds are nice and visually appealing and the opening scene is stunning as well. It does have an old style RPG feel to it but in their own artistic way. I think I spent more time running around and enjoying the scenery more than the game itself so far. I can see why this series has branched off so much merchandise. It has a childlike feel, yet still grown enough for an adult to enjoy as well. I am hoping to find more cinematics in the game like the opening. I will not be disappointed if I do not find any more. It just would be great to see some more. Overall I gave the graphics a full star!

Music
Well, the music did have a certain vibe to it. It is very emotional and heartfelt as you navigate around the map. It does give a good sense of progression to the game. As well as the battle music it gives off a sense of urgent fast-paced battle. Yet it is a turn-based? It just gives you that heavy sense of action. The music did a nice job overall in the game so I gave it a full star!

Story
I got a good feel for the story right off the start. So I really did appreciate that. It does give a good feeling that this game could very well be heavily story driven. I mean I can only hope it is since it spawned an anime series. I do not want to ruin the story with my weak interpretation so I searched out the story for you all to read.
"The Legend of the DofusPlunge into an imaginary medieval universe where dragons, heroes, and deities fight each other for the precious Dofus. Embark on a journey for these dragon eggs, which have been stolen by evil forces. Unlock their powers and rival the power of the Gods!"- Dofus Official Page
See now when a game has a good storyline I can enjoy then it makes me want to play the game even more. The other part of the story that I really enjoyed was the little tombstone looking things with a bit of the history of the game on each one of them. To me, that just adds more depth to a game. Overall I am enjoying exploring and learning more about Dofus, So I gave it a full star!

Replay Value
I do see a lot of potential replay value with all of the characters, and the simple fact that this is an MMORPG. I do however worry about this limited things I can do because even though it is free to play, it does have a members subscription. How strong is the game and the community for this to even be worth having the subscription for? If I did read the subscriptions right it comes out to $80.00 for a year. To me, feel that there is a lot of replay value to be had if you are willing to pay for it. Overall I gave replay value a full star.
that just seems a bit too much. A monthly plan will run you roughly $10.00. So I am not exactly sure what all is limited, but so far I have a good

Overall I am enjoying this game fairly much. It is more of the history and the story that drives my curiosity. Yet my fear of the subscription and limits without a subscription worry me. It is a free to play game, and I do understand why they have a subscription-based system. Without it, they just can not keep this game going. I will continue my adventures on Dofus, I just hope I am not to limited on what I can or can not do. That will ultimately determine whether or not I go through with a tips and tricks page or not. I do hope you enjoyed this review and hope you all have an explorative day!
